Introduction

With the E-Commerce Plus add-on, you can create and manage vouchers. Vouchers are organised into campaigns, where you can specify the quantity, expiry date and value (fixed or as a percentage).

Vouchers can:

  • apply to an entire order
  • or be linked to a specific item

All vouchers can be exported as a CSV file and processed further in Excel, for example. Additionally, a voucher item can be created where the customer is free to choose the price.

Redeeming vouchers

Once the first campaign has been created, a field for the voucher code appears at checkout:

The order summary shows that the voucher has been redeemed. If the code is invalid, an error message appears:

The voucher details are also included in the order confirmation email:

Operation

After installation, the following appears in the main menu:
Marketing → Vouchers.

This is where all vouchers are managed.

Create campaigns

New vouchers are organised into campaigns:

  1. Click Create new campaign
  2. Enter key details:
    • Campaign name
    • Number of vouchers
    • Amount (fixed or percentage)
    • Expiry date
    • Product restriction (optional)
    • Maximum number of redemptions per voucher
  3. Select type:
    • Promotion: VAT calculated based on the reduced price
    • Credit: VAT calculated based on the original price

Note: If there are more than 1,000 vouchers, creation may take a little longer.

Vouchers redeemable multiple times

  • By default, redeemable once per voucher
  • Number of redemptions can be adjusted within the voucher itself
  • Note for internal documentation possible

Minimum purchase amount

  • Field: Redeemable from item total
  • Voucher valid once the item total is reached
  • 0 = no minimum amount

Foreign currencies

  • Specify fixed values in base currency
  • Displayed automatically converted
  • Conversion rate: Shop Administration → Currencies

Item linking

  • For orders: deducts amount from the shopping basket
  • For items: voucher only valid if items are included
  • For categories: applies to all items in the category
  • For special field: voucher only valid if the field value in the item matches

Note: Generating >1000 vouchers may take longer, as each code is checked individually.

View / Delete Campaigns

  • Can be done directly via the main menu
  • All vouchers in the campaign displayed in list form
  • Status visible (redeemable/redeemed)
  • Vouchers can be moved to other campaigns at a later date

Exporting Voucher Data

  • Voucher codes can be downloaded as a CSV file
  • Can be further processed in Excel, OpenOffice or for print documents

Voucher items

In addition to traditional voucher codes, voucher items can also be sold in the shop.

Items with fixed prices

  • Simply create normal items (e.g. CHF 50 voucher)
  • Stock levels optional

Items with variable prices

  • Create items with price = 0.00
  • Customer selects the amount at checkout
  • No minimum/maximum order quantity required

Configuration options

  • Activation: possible immediately after installation
  • Voucher type: value or service voucher
  • Print @ Home: Customer can print the voucher themselves
  • Minimum/maximum value: Limits can be defined (0 = no limit)

How it works

  • Price = 0.00 → Customer determines the amount
  • Item may be in stock; no quantity input required
  • Sale automatically generates a voucher code under Marketing → Vouchers → Campaign “generated by voucher item”

VAT on vouchers

  1. Sale of the voucher: VAT rate of the voucher item
  2. Redeeming the voucher: VAT based on the original price or the reduced price

Types:

  • Promotion: VAT on the reduced price
  • Credit: VAT on the original price

Recommendation: Create many vouchers with 0% VAT, except for service vouchers.
