This guide explains how to create new items.

Creating an item

To create an item, navigate to “Assortment” → “Products” in the shop administration and then click on “New”.

You can now enter the new item. The following fields must be filled in for the item to be added to the assortment:

  • Name: Name of this item in all languages
  • Price: Sales price of the item

General

In the “General information” tab, you will find an overview of the most important item data.

Item no.

You can define the item number in the “Product no." field. You can use lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers, dots, hyphens and underscores. If you do not fill in the field, the system will assign the item numbers itself.

Weight

Here you can specify the weight of the item. This is particularly relevant for the shipping cost system if shipping costs are calculated based on weight.

Manufacturer information

The manufacturer information is an additional module that allows you to assign items to a manufacturer in addition to categories.

Learn more in the module instructions.

Name

In the name field, you can enter the product name in all activated languages. This will be used as the title in the item list and in the item detail view.

Description

In the description field, you can give the customer an overview of the item. The text you enter will be displayed in the item detail view.

You also have the option of entering the text in HTML. For example, you can embed YouTube videos in the article description.

Short description

If you have activated the two-level article display, the short description is displayed in the article list. If you do not fill in this field, it will take over the beginning of the article description.

Price

Here you can set the sales price of the article. You can specify further price details, such as graduated prices, in the mass mutations.

Promotional price

You can set a promotional price for the article in GBP/percentage. In the Promotion from/Promotion to fields, you can also specify the duration of the promotion.

Value added tax

You can find out how to adjust the value added tax in the Value added tax instructions.

Stock management

If stock management is available and activated, you can configure various points relating to the stock level of this article at the bottom of the stock mask:

  • “Stock”: Current item stock in the warehouse.
  • “Minimum stock quantity”: If the quantity specified here is not reached, PepperShop can send a warning to the administrator.
  • “Available in”: Information for the customer about when this item should be available again (for items that are currently out of stock).
  • “Stock behaviour”: How should the shop behave when this item is no longer in stock:
    • “fully available”: The item is always available (even if it is currently out of stock).
    • “reorderable”: Informs the customer that the item will be reordered (optionally with the “Available in …” information).
    • “Will not be reordered”: The item is no longer displayed when it is out of stock. This allows you to create unique items in your shop, for example.
    • “is not reordere, but always represented”: The item is always displayed in the shop, even though it will not be reordered.

Detailed instructions can be found here.

Assign items to categories

To assign the item to one or more categories, click in the “Category assignment” field and select the desired categories.

To create a new category, follow these instructions.

Item image

To upload an item image, click on the grey pencil icon. You can upload additional images in the orange box below.

Activation

In this field, you can select one of the following three options:

  • “Active”: The item is always displayed in the shop.
  • “Inactive”: The article will not be listed in the shop.
  • “Temporary”: Define a period during which the article will be displayed in the shop.

Promotional article

This checkbox determines whether this article should be listed in the article promotion category or not. However, the promotion category must first be created in the category management. And you can specify which graphic should be used to highlight a promotional item in the “Shopbuttons” menu. Promotions have no effect on the price. You can also combine the promotional status with a promotion.

Purchasability

There are three options available here: -“Purchasable”: The customer can purchase the item.

  • “Not for sale”: The customer can view the item but cannot purchase it.
  • “Temporary”: Define a period during which the item is available for purchase.

Option items

Option items are used to implement manual cross-selling. You can configure item recommendations to display matching accessories, for example.

You can link optional items under “Assortment” → “Mass mutations” → “Option products”.

Here you can store additional information about the item via a link or by uploading a document.

Variants

You can create so-called “sub-items” using the “Add variant” button. The parent item (main item) could be a T-shirt with a slogan, for example. Instead of entering additional colours as separate items, you can enter the sub-items, i.e. the different colours, under “Variants”.

Properties

Under the “Properties” tab, you can enter features such as manufacturer, importer, safety instructions, etc. To do this, select the desired feature. Enter the relevant information in the “Value” field.

SEO

The SEO title and description are determined automatically. By deactivating the “SEO-Determine fields automatically” checkbox, you can determine the SEO fields yourself. The SEO title and SEO description fields will appear. You will also see the search result rating immediately.
