Manufacturer management

Introduction

With the manufacturer module, you can assign items to a manufacturer in addition to categories. This allows customers to search specifically for all offers from a particular manufacturer. In addition, a link can be stored for each manufacturer, which is displayed with the item so that the customer can go directly to the manufacturer’s website.

Configuration of the manufacturer module

Required for start-up

• 21.Commerce Administration access
• E-Commerce Plus add-on

Step 1: Manage manufacturers (create, edit, delete)

Manufacturers and their links are managed centrally. The administration can be found under Assortment -> Manufacturer management.

1. Go to Manufacturer management.
2. Enter new manufacturers in the empty fields.
3. After saving, new empty fields will be displayed.
4. To edit existing manufacturers, change the data in the corresponding field.
5. To delete manufacturers, tick the Delete column and click on Save settings.

Note: There is no limit to the number of manufacturers.

Step 2: Assigning items

Items can be assigned to manufacturers individually or via bulk changes.

2a: Assignment via bulk item changes

1. In the main menu, go to Items → Bulk changes.
2. Click on the Manufacturer button.
3. Select a category to see the items that can be assigned.
4. An internal coding number can be entered in the Item code field if desired.
5. Enter the manufacturer’s item number in Manufacturer item no..
6. Select the desired manufacturer from the Manufacturer name drop-down menu.
7. Click Save to apply the assignment.

2b: Assignment via item editing mask

1. Open Create new item or Edit existing item.
2. Below the shop item number, you will see the line with the manufacturer details.
3. Enter the Manufacturer name and Manufacturer item number there.

When a customer views an item with a manufacturer assignment, the following information is displayed:

• Name of the manufacturer (with link to the manufacturer’s website)
• Manufacturer item number (if stored)

Item search

The item search automatically searches the Manufacturer item number field, so that customers can quickly find the desired item using this number.

Filter by manufacturer

In the navigation menu on the left-hand side, there is a Manufacturer box with a selection of registered manufacturers.
The selection shows all items from the selected manufacturer – across all categories.
